There's nothing literally &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;green&lt;/span&gt; about this ice.  I just thought the phrase 'Green Ice' might catch your eye :) and I propose that the term 'Green Ice' be used to  refer to ice&lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_energy_storage"&gt;&lt;/a&gt; that is created using a minimal amount of machinery and energy and is used for &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_energy_storage"&gt;Thermal Energy Storage&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To that end the intention of this blog is to advance the notion of creating ice using low carbon footprint and energy conserving methods ( i.e. 'green' methods) for providing air conditioning, dehumidification and refrigeration for homes and businesses.
